The Young Buck Competition Begins: a Bio for Carter John Huzinec

DEAR LCCTC STUDENT BODY, STAFF, AND FRIENDS OF LCCTC:

Carter attended and graduated from Lawrence County Career and Technical Center in the class of 2018, where he was a member of the Construction Trades class. Like most of the students at this special school, LCCTC was a place where Carter flourished as it helped to shape him into the adult he was becoming. This school gave him the necessary confidence in himself to grow in a way that his home school never could. Carter went from just “going to school” to “looking forward to going to school”, a huge accomplishment for any institution.

In the time that Carter attended LCCTC, he developed a passion for bodybuilding, weightlifting, and fitness. He became a big guy, yet with a gentle heart, and had the personality to match. Many of his classmates would join him in the gym, as the friendly spirit of competition grew in them all. It was his dream to open a gym of his own one day, a dream that would go unrealized.

Carter died on June 3rd, 2020, a few short weeks before his 21st birthday, from injuries sustained in a quad-riding accident. This scholarship, in his name, is our way of giving back to the school and the students of LCCTC which gave so much to him.

In that same friendly spirit of competition that helped push Carter to excel, we hope that you will enjoy the Young Buck fundraiser and the Carter Huzinec Memorial Scholarship.

With Love,

The Parents of Carter John Huzinec

ABOUT THE COMPETITION:

The Young Buck Fundraiser is an effort made by the Student Council in conjunction with the family of LCCTC alumni, Carter Huzinec and the Carter Huzinec Scholarship Fund.

During the first week, the Young Bucks will dare to share their skill in archery. In the weeks to come, there will be other fun events that dare to test their strength. Each week, advantages can be purchased in 10, 20, and $50 increments. Points will be awarded and compiled into a total as each event occurs.

All monies raised will be donated to the Carter Huzinec Scholarship Fund with the family contributing toward the amount raised by LCCTC. The Carter Huzinec Scholarship will then be awarded to a graduating senior who plans to attend a trade school or who plans to immediately enter the workforce upon graduation. Last year’s deserving scholarship recipient was Asia Irving who put the money toward a car so she could get herself to and from school.

In advance, we thank you for your support.
