IMPORTANT: LCCTC Shift to Remote Instruction

Friday January 30, 2026

To: All Students, Parents, and Staff Subject: URGENT: LCCTC Transitioning to Remote Instruction

Dear LCCTC Community,

Due to a mechanical failure with the school’s boiler system this morning, the building is currently unable to reach a safe and comfortable temperature for students and staff.

As a result, LCCTC will transition from a 2-hour delay to a day of Remote Instruction.

Updated Schedule for Today:

  • Remote Start Time: 10:00 a.m.

  • Format: Students should log in to their designated platform (Google Classroom) to meet with their instructors.

The safety and comfort of our students are our top priorities. Our maintenance team has resolved the issue.

Please stay warm and reach out to your instructors if you have any difficulty accessing your remote materials.

Subject: IMPORTANT: 2-Hour Delay & Transportation Info – Friday, Jan. 30

The Lawrence County Career and Technical Center will be operating on a 2-hour delay tomorrow, Friday, January 30, 2026.

Please review the following critical information regarding transportation and attendance, as schedules vary by home school district:

Transportation & Home School Schedules

Follow Your Home School: Please adhere to the specific transportation rules and schedules set by your home school district.

Delays: If your home school also has a 2-hour delay, please follow that modified transportation schedule.

Alternate Transportation: If your school is on an FID day but you are able to safely provide your own transportation to the CTC, you are encouraged to attend.

Attendance: If you cannot attend due to a lack of district-provided transportation (FID status), your absence will be recorded as excused.

Weather & Attendance Update for: Thursday, January 29

Lawrence County CTC is operating on a normal schedule today. While our facility is open and on time, we recognize that our sending schools have made varying decisions. Please follow the transportation and schedule guidelines for your specific home district below:

Status by District

District Status Transportation & Arrival

Shenango & Laurel On Time Normal schedule; transportation provided as usual.

Mohawk, Wilmington & Neshannock 2-Hour Delay Students should arrive between 9:45 a.m. and 10:05 a.m.

Ellwood City & New Castle FID Day No district transportation. Students with alternate transit are welcome to attend; otherwise, you will be marked as absent/excused.

Important Notes for Students

  • Follow Your Sending School: Your transit depends entirely on your home district's schedule.

  • Alternate Transportation: If your school is on an FID day but you are able to safely provide your own transportation to the CTC, you are encouraged to attend.

  • Attendance: If you cannot attend due to a lack of district-provided transportation (FID status), your absence will be recorded as excused.

For your awareness, while many Butler County schools have opted for Flexible Instruction Days (FIDs) for the remainder of the week, we have not made that commitment. I am also remaining in close contact with Lawrence County superintendents as the situation evolves.

Currently, my intention is for school to remain in session and on time for both Thursday and Friday. If conditions require a change, a two-hour delay is my preferred secondary option; I do not intend to cancel school or call for a FID based on the forecasted temperatures.

Please plan for an on-time arrival tomorrow. I will notify you immediately if a definitive change is made.
