PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This program prepares individuals to apply knowledge and skills in the consumer service field. Instruction is provided in the basic skills in a variety of areas associated with consumer service such as protective service; food and beverage preparation and service; personal service; and building and grounds service. Instruction includes but is not limited to care and guidance of children and adults; nutrition and meal planning; managing and performing household tasks; cleaning and caring for various residential and industrial surfaces and materials; scheduling work; purchasing supplies; controlling costs; caring for fabric and textiles; custody and security procedures; administrative responsibilities; crisis intervention; institutional policies, regulations and operations; and use and care of equipment.
