Commercial Art Paper Portraits: Cut, Place, and FINALLY Paste!

by Desiree D’ambrosi ~ Commercial Art Class of 2026

This past week in Commercial Arts was filled with cutting, pasting, creativity, and, most of all, PAPER! Students took on the exciting challenge of creating unique paper self-portraits, transforming simple materials into colorful works of art.

Under the guidance of senior shop assistants Robin Nye, Milo Fair, and Desiree D’Ambrosi, students explored shapes, textures, and creative design techniques to bring their portraits to life. The project encouraged students to think outside the box while expressing their personalities through art.

By the end of the week, each student had crafted a one-of-a-kind masterpiece of themselves. Not only was the project educational, but it also gave students the opportunity to have fun, collaborate, and build confidence in their artistic abilities.

A special thank you goes out to the shop assistants for helping mentor and guide the younger students throughout the project, and to all of the students whose hard work and creativity made the experience such a success. Commercial Arts continues to provide hands-on projects that inspire imagination and artistic growth every day!
