LCCTC Proudly Represents PA at NLSC
DAY 1:
Success! Our ten Lawrence County, PA State Gold Medalists kicked off the week with a powerful lesson in patience and perseverance. After a whirlwind start, they rose to the occasion and represented with pride during the Pennsylvania meeting — speaking in front of all PA competitors, their advisors, and leadership. Their professionalism, confidence, and character shined.
Day 2:
From orientation meetings, exploring the incredible Techspo exhibits, and a whirlwind of pin trading to the high-energy Opening Ceremonies featuring keynote speaker Mike Rowe (from Dirty Jobs & Somebody's Gotta Do It) — our national competitors are just getting started.
Stay tuned for more highlights — we’re just getting warmed up! w/SkillsUSA Pennsylvania
DAY 3: While Cole tackled his first full day in the Electrical Construction Wiring competition—testing his knowledge, bending conduit, completing a mock interview, and drawing up schematics—Jhenavesza took the spotlight in the Job Skills Demonstration competition. She showcased her accomplishments through a portfolio, completed a detailed application, and faced the interview with confidence. On this first day of competition, both gave it their all, and in our eyes, they are already champions.
Two of our three traveling scholarship winners visited Harbor Freight Tools for Schools to thank them for their sponsorship of NLSC with a traveling scholarship.
Meanwhile, our Opening and Closing Ceremonies team competed in their first round, where 30 teams were narrowed down to just 12. We’re proud to announce—they’re heading to the finals!
Tomorrow brings even more excitement as the OCC team returns for the championship round, Cole continues his competition, and Alyssa steps up to represent us in the Health Occupation Professional Portfolio event.
Let’s cheer them on as they wrap up a week of hard work and excellence. Good luck, Team Lawrence County CTC!
______Congratulations to the PA Opening and Closing Ceremonies team for advancing to the final round at Nationals! You're officially one of the Top 12 teams in the country!
This competition highlights professional presentation skills as students demonstrate their knowledge of the symbolic meaning behind the colors and elements of the emblem.
We're so proud of your poise and dedication. Way to go, Lawrence County CTC! Best of luck tomorrow in the finals!
And check out who they bumped into after their first round competing: Ty Pennington of HGTV’s Extreme Home Makeover!
DAY 4 @ NLSC: Whew! Today, Alyssa competed in her Health Occupation Professional Portfolio competition, Cole had his 2nd full day of competition, and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies team competed in the finals! They put it all on the line and did their very best to make you all proud! Check out the photos for more details.
We ALSO had the pleasure of connecting with Jeremy Lull, founder and CEO of My Career Tech — a platform that has become an invaluable part of our career-focused curriculum here at LCCTC!
Thank you, Mr. Lull, for your continued support and for creating high-quality videos and materials that both challenge and engage our students. Your resources spark meaningful discussions and bring real-world relevance into our classrooms.
Your constant focus on the question, “What else can we do to help your students?” truly sets you apart. We're grateful for your partnership and dedication to education!
DAY 5: Bike Build, "Family Dinner" and the Awards Ceremony
MORNING:: On Friday, June 27, SkillsUSA student leaders from across the nation rolled up their sleeves and gave back to the Atlanta community through the “Build Skills – Do Good – Complete the Cycle” bike-building service project!
Instead of sleeping in, our Lawrence County CTC students gathered with 584 other SkillsUSA student leaders at the Georgia World Congress Center for a 9 a.m. kickoff rally, then got to work assembling bikes for kids served by LaAmistad, an Atlanta nonprofit supporting Latino students and their families.
Working in teams, they earned each bike part through fun challenges, and by noon, nearly 100 brand-new children's bikes—complete with helmets and license plates—were ready to surprise campers on their last day of summer camp.
This hands-on service event has been a SkillsUSA tradition for 20+ years, helping students build real-world skills, leadership, and community spirit.
Huge thanks to our 2025 sponsors, Ariat and State Farm Insurance Companies, for making this meaningful day possible.
AWARDS CEREMONY: Congratulations to SkillsUSA Silver Medalist, Alyssa Corbin! Alyssa competed in Health Occupation Professional Portfolio, where students are recognized for their successful development of a professional portfolio and to evaluate the ability of an individual to present himself or herself to an employer using effective communication skills. In the fall, Alyssa will begin her studies at Butler County Community College's Nursing Program. Well done Alyssa!
Congratulations also to the Opening and Closing Team who are 5th in the nation and Jhenavesza who is 7th! GREAT job, all!
