It Pays to Go to the CTC: Mural Installation
Desiree D’Ambrosi, Commercial Art Class of 2026
The Commercial Arts students have been hard at work these past few months! From prepping for NOCTI (certification tests for many of the programs at LCCTC) to countless anatomy drawings, and learning more and more about their trade, every day, they have been working with vinyl. In this case, they were creating the, “It Pays to Go to the CTC!” mural in the academic hallway!
Many students from the Commercial Art program took on this project under the close eye of Mr. Derosa. Using student photography of those who earned the incentive, CA students utilized PhotoShop to create the life-sized mural. Once printed, students used safe ladder skills during their OSHA 10 certifications to squeegee and heat-press the vinyl. Led by the seniors of CA, this project is a public demonstration of the knowledge and skills they have learned in their time at the CTC!
The purpose of this mural is to celebrate students who successfully passed their Keystone Biology, Algebra, and Literature tests. A byproduct of the mural is to incentivize those who still need to take these exams to work hard, study for, and pass in the future. Students can earn $20 for passing one test, $50 for passing two, and $100 for passing all three! The “It Pays to Go to the CTC” program is just one of the many ways that LCCTC demonstrates a tangible interest in academic achievements — all the while they learn and practice their trade!
If you are on your way to the academic wing, be proud of the faces you see — those students who did their best to make their school proud. Then, consider the time, effort, and skill it takes to install a mural like this.
The administration, staff, and students at the CTC prove every day how hard-working and dedicated they are to their trade, and how dedicated our students are to enhancing their education here at the CTC!
