Cut, Tape, Spray! That’s the Commercial Art Way!
by Desiree D’Ambrosi, Commercial Art Class of 2026
If you by chance happened to walk into the Commercial Arts room this past month, you probably would’ve been hit by a smell of spray paint and would have been greeted by a scene of several CA kids working on a project issued by Mrs. McVicker, co-literacy coach with Mrs. Cozza, to decorate and spray paint eight different chairs for a literacy space.
Previously, students in the Construction Trades Program sanded them down and students in the Auto Tech program painted a primer coat.
The only instruction for the final touches was, “Make it look fun!”
Several students took on this task, such as Milo Fair, Tanner Kendall, Leo Dupuis, Maddy Wyatt, and Desiree D’Ambrosi. Each of these students played a crucial role in this project, and each helped with cutting and taping the vinyl to the chair and with spray painting it. All of these students showed off their creativity and their skills that have been taught to them by their teacher, Mr. DeRosa.
You can catch a glimpse of these chairs in Mrs. McVicker’s room, and she is planning on using them for a Literacy Support Group next year!
Thank you to all the Commercial Arts students who helped make this project possible and to Mrs. McVicker for using these chairs for such a helpful cause!
