CT Helps Bring a Little Cheer to New Castle
If you’ve driven by the corner of Mill Street and North Street, you might have seen a few familiar faces; These are eager students studying in LCCTC’s Carpentry Class, willing to put in a hard-day’s working side-by-side with Local 420 Carpentry Union. What are they doing? For the third year in a row, LCCTC Carpentry students are helping to assemble to 40’x’80’ outdoor ice rink.
Spearheaded by Lawrence County District Attorney Josh Lamancusa and his office, the New Castle Police Department, New Visions for Lawrence County and several local benefactors including PNC Bank, the Ellwood Group, and the Hoyt Foundation, the outdoor rink has become a welcome tradition to many Lawrence County residents. This year will certainly not disappoint; the rink, once again, features real ice instead of synthetic ice allowing for a better experience..
When not on the ice, visitors can now enjoy concessions and a fire pit to replace the chill and to roast a marshmallow or two or five! Just in case that won’t warm your insides, there is a heated tent as you enjoy a brief break from the ice.
With the help of LCCTC’s carpenters, the rink is expected to open on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 1 PM – 9 PM

The Ice Rink will be open 4-9pm Thursdays and Fridays and 1-9pm Saturdays and Sundays from November 23rd to December 29th.

12-9PM Food Trucks on Mill Street
1:00 PM Grand Opening of the 2019 Outdoor Ice Skating Rink
3:00 PM Holiday Parade (along Croton Ave & E. Washington St)
4:00 - 6:00 PM Pop-Up Family Festival along E. Washington St.
6:00 PM Light Up the Night (tree lighting and Pyrotechnico Fireworks)
