Honoring Veterans: Annual Parade 2025
On Saturday morning, November 8, 2025, the Lawrence County Chapter of SkillsUSA participated in our county’s annual Veterans’ Day Parade to honor the men and women who have served our country in the armed forces.
Members gathered to assist the Veterans and Agent Orange Veterans Project by distributing American flags to veterans along the parade route. Current members—sporting their traditional red SkillsUSA blazers and black SkillsUSA Carhartt jackets—walked proudly along the route, medals brightly clinking with each step. With their bright red hats and scarves, handcrafted with love by former LCCTC secretary Sandy Jones, they were ready to brave the cold in both comfort and style.
SkillsUSA team members, most having served the VAOVP on their trip to DC, had already learned to identify men and women who served our country by their distinctive garrison side caps and embroidered Armed Services caps. Positioned toward the front of the parade, LCCTC’s SkillsUSA students and graduates made their way through the streets smiling and waving. They were warmly greeted by community members and veterans alongside their families, whose hearts were already filled with appreciation and support. It was humbling to look into the eyes of the veterans, shake their hands, and thank them for their service.
The ability to say a simple “thank you” was an honor. While these SkillsUSA members may view their participation as a service project, the warmth and kindness returned by the veterans, their families, and children along the route made it feel as though the students were the ones who received something truly special.
Veterans—LCCTC appreciates and respects you. Thank you for your service.
