AMP Success Stories: Life After CmfgA Certification
We are proud to share that several of our students have successfully completed the 2025 Advanced Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship Program through Penn College, earning the Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA) Certification from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME).
The program blends self-directed online modules, instructor-led discussions, hands-on lab sessions, and project-based learning to prepare students for real-world opportunities. Coursework covered essential topics such as applied mathematics, safety, quality, lean processes, inspection, fasteners, CNC, robotics, and more.
As a 2025 graduate from the Electrical Occupation program and CMfgA Certified through the AMP program, Coulter Street shares his experience:
Favorite part of the program: I enjoyed visiting a local manufacturing company and the visit from a different company. I was able to get a feel for the opportunities that are here right in our own backyard!
Why others should consider it: If they’re curious about manufacturing, it’s a great experience.
On industry preparation: The AMP program helps with basic safety and recognizing potential hazards — helpful in several different types of industries looking to hire skilled, trained workers.
On job readiness: With my experience at LCCTC’s Electrical Occupation program and my CMfgA Certification, I was able to successfully land a job after graduation in one of the local manufacturing companies close to home.
As an additional 2025 graduate from the Electrical Occupation program and also CMfgA Certified through the AMP program, Jhenavesza Miller shares her experience:
Jhenavesza
Favorite part of the program: I loved how the program was self-paced and gave me hands-on activities to support what I learned.
Why others should consider it: If other students are looking to go to work right after high school, the AMP Programs gives you a general idea of how the manufacturing industry works.”
On-the-job preparation: With this program, I was able to gain an idea of what the day-to-day work life looks like.
On job readiness: Since graduation, I work in a mill every day — these AMP classes gave me a stepping stone to understanding how my job works and prepared me with an understanding of many aspects I’d need to be successful in industry.
This achievement highlights how career and technical education connects classroom learning with industry credentials that lead directly to employment opportunities. Congratulations to our Class of 2025 AMP students for this outstanding accomplishment!
