"Mews" from the Tails of Hope Event: VA Helps with the Spay/Neuter Event

Our Lawrence County CTC Veterinary Assistant Program's 3rd year and advanced 2nd-year students have been sharing their skills assisting the professionals at Tails of Hope's Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) event.

The TNR event offers a humane approach to communities of cats who have no homes and no potential for homes. Once the cats are trapped, in addition to spay/neuter services, cats receive vaccines, disease testing, and other critical medical care. How can you tell if a cat has received care? You'll notice the tip of their left ear is missing, a sure sign that this feline is healthy and receives care.

Gabrielle Treece, senior VA student, reports, "These TNR events are high-volume; we care for upwards of 90 cats each event!"

"We prep the patients, wrap surgical pacs and clean instruments, and ensure that their recovery is safe," reports senior Riley Barge.
