Just in the Nick of Time: FFA Competes at Districts

On Wed, March 11th — just two days before we found that our world here in PA and in several other states in the nation “hit the pause button,” three of our Veterinary Assistant students traveled to the FFA District Competition to show their skills in in Junior Prepared Speech, Senior Prepared Speech, and Job Skill Demonstration — just in the nick of time! We are proud of our FFA Members and of the quality of our VA program.

Reflecting on the performances of her sophomore teammates, Lanna Schultz and Lita Frishkorn , Caitlin Ritter, senior VA quickly states, “They were amazing! I’m so proud of them!”

Caitlin knows what it means to be a young competitor; as a three-year member, Caitlin has been actively involved in FFA and has competed since her sophomore year. After winning at District Competition in ‘18 and ‘19, she returned to LCCTC with a silver medal on the Regional level last year. As she “patiently waits,” Caitlin is hoping to see good results again from this final year of competition.

Throughout their membership with FFA at LCCTC, our VA students are encouraged to develop their interpersonal skills in teamwork and communications. Of course, throughout the preparation for these presentations, our students are also able to demonstrate their excellence in scholarship.

As we await the results of their competitions, it’s easy to see that these kids are able to develop their leadership skills and strengthen their confidence in the knowledge and application of Veterinary Science!
