Baccalaureate "Run the Race" 2026
Tonight, members of the LCCTC community came together to share messages of trust, connection, comfort, and purpose with the graduating Class of 2026 as they prepare for their next adventure.
The Gideons presented each graduate with a New Testament Bible as they entered. Thanks to the LYFT Club (LCCTC Youth in Faith and Truth) for gathering Bibles donated by Northminster Church; each senior left with a complete bible of their choice.
Liz Donegan opened with a welcome and prayer.
JOC President Debra Allenbach reflected on Jeremiah 29:11-13, reminding graduates that their futures are filled with hope and opportunity. LCCTC Glee serenaded the graduates with “Slipping Through My Fingers,” the beloved ABBA song from Mamma Mia, adding a heartfelt and emotional touch to the evening.
Mr. Pavia shared words of hope and congratulations before reading Theodore Roosevelt’s “The Man in the Arena,” encouraging students to embrace courage, perseverance, and purpose as they move forward in life.
Class President Matt Fennell spoke about the importance of continuing to “Go the Distance,” inspired by the story of 1992 Olympic athlete Derek Redmond. Though injured early in the race, he was expected to win. Redmond refused to quit, determined to finish despite the pain. In one unforgettable moment, his father joined him on the track, supporting him as the two crossed the finish line together. Matt encouraged everyone to “lean on the Father” as we each race the good race through life.
Zoey Byler sang “Oceans,” which reminded the audience to make a radical trust in God — stepping out with faith into the unknown, inspired by Matthew 14: 22-31.
Samantha McKnight, Valedictorian, closed the evening with a lovely prayer, sending hope and love to each graduate.
Together, these heartfelt messages and music brought encouragement and inspiration to all in attendance.
And now—on to tomorrow’s graduation and beyond.
Congratulations, Class of 2026!
