One Jab Closer: Williams' Win

When the bell rang to mark the end of the third two-minute round, the referee raised Alan Williams’ glove to claim him the victor by unanimous decision. This is the second year Williams, a senior welding student at LCCTC, is moving on in the Golden Glove tournament; there is only one more victory that stands between him and the final championship match. In this amateur tournament, for the second year in a row, Williams is defending his title as Golden Gloves Champion.

With the hashtag #ChasingGreatness, Williams shares, “I really enjoy the training, but it’s the dream of success that keeps me coming back.”

Currently an amateur, Williams plans to go pro after he graduates high school. “Boxing is an amazing opportunity,” he states. “I could change my family’s life if this works out!”

During his school hours, when Williams is not focusing on welding the perfect bead, his focus is locked on perfecting his technical ability, tactical awareness, and physical and mental strength. When he graduates, he plans to obtain employment as a welder until his mid-twenties. Then, his goal is to pursue pugilism full-time.
