ROVA 2023: Back -- Stronger Than Ever!

After a 3-year hiatus, the Rotary Outstanding Vocational Award Leadership Camp is stronger than ever!  Sponsored by the New Castle, Wilmington, and Ellwood Rotaries, students completed an application and were selected based on their application and potential to lead.  They learned skills that included the fundamentals and positive ethics of leadership, effective communication and problem-solving/conflict management, and self-confidence/esteem, to name a few.

The conference began with a few icebreaker activities which was a mere warmup compared to what was to come. Soon, kids were split into groups and challenged with tasks; some involved blindfolds and some held stories to support, but all had a lesson to learn. Through “doing”, ROVA kids learned to lead by stepping up, by example, or by following; to watch out for and consider others; to use effective communication— and so much more!

To the Rotaries who sponsored – Thank you for your generosity! These lessons, although fun — actually, a lot of fun, will be ones that will last a lifetime.
