Fourth Fall Flannel Fest

By Elizabeth Donegan: Veterinary Assistant, Class of 2026

Saturday, October 8th, LCCTC had its 4th annual Fall Flannel Fest, a time for fall festivities filled with fun and, of course, flannel.

There was an activity for everyone:  pumpkin painting for those who like to paint, pumpkin smashing with a sledgehammer crafted by Machine Tool Tech – just perfect for releasing an anger issue or two, and cornhole to play with your friends.

Refreshments included typical kid food:  chips and pop, hotdogs, and spooky, fall-themed cookies made by students in Restaurant trades.

Mr. Nych and Mr. Windhorst exchanged their teacher hats for DJ hats as they played all types of music from country to spooky and even some music to dance to.   Veterinary Assistant junior, Kimmy Walter adds, “We all did the cha cha slide and boogied up and down.”

At the center of all the fun was a big bonfire, where students could sit and talk or roast smores. To cap off the night, the Bessemer Fire Department arrived as requested to put out the fire built by recent Eagle Scout, John Ditch (Welding junior), who has earned the nickname, “Fire Master”.

LCCTC students seemed to enjoy the evening.  Chelsia Robison (Veterinary Assistant sophomore) and Ashton Critchlow (Cosmetology sophomore) confirms this.  Additionally, many others felt the same: “It was a lot of fun this year; I got involved in a lot more activities than last year. Food was good, set up was easy, and the night was stress-free,” claimed Jhenavesza Miller (Electrical Occupations junior). “It was good to have a day where we could relax.”

Sophomore Carlee Meyer (Veterinary Assistant) states, “It was the most fun I've had in a long time. I never thought I could say this, but it was even better than homecoming. There was no drama. Everyone was responsible and safe.”

Sophomore Blake Osborne (Machine Tool Tech) echoes Meyer’s sentiment, “It was the happiest I've been in a long time.”

This event was planned by the student council with the help of class advisors Mrs. Brown, Ms. Cozza, and Mr. Pavia.

Special “Thank You’s” go to the following:
