Results from LCCTC's Annual Blood Drives

LCCTC’s Health Assistant shop concluded the school year by collecting a total of 100 blood PRODUCTS during our three annual blood drives. That is taking into account that our second blood drive was during a 2-hour delay; this is proof that our Health Assistant program continues to go above and beyond — always rising, in a task that improves countless lives.

These blood drives are so important; whether it is for emergency purposes where an immediate supply of blood is needed or for routine blood transfusions for chemotherapy patients, you just never know who or when that blood is going to be used.

“On behalf of the patients in area hospitals whose lives you helped save,” states Christie DeLaura of Vitalant, “Thank you for hosting a successful blood drive. Please share our gratitude with those who so generously donated blood, your blood drive planning team, and everyone else who played a role in transforming lives.”

Mr. O’Donnell and Mr. Pavia, LCCTC’s Health Assistant Instructors, are also quite proud of the blood drive program they continue to host. It takes a lot to run such a successful event three times each year, and they do it with the help of students who learn to organize each event and Restaurant Trades students who prepare post-donation snacks. Of course, without the LCCTC community and their friends and family who donate, there wouldn’t be a blood drive. O’Donnell and Pavia state, “Our students, staff, and community members are simply amazing. We look forward to future blood drives, but for this year — we genuinely say, ‘Thank you’.”
