SWPB Trip to Pittsburgh & Baseball Game!

The hallways were a little less crowded on May 25th. Where was everybody? Well — almost 50 LCCTC students weren’t there! They had earned the opportunity to attend a Pirates game and jumped on the chance.

Our kids had sub sandwiches, juice, fruit, and bottled water.. Then they got loaded value on their tickets to get food inside for the afternoon game vs. the Colorado Rockies. It was a beautiful day to spend the first part of the morning on the observation deck at Mount Washington. What a great spot for some photos with friends! Having a chance to see the big city was a plus, too! Pittsburgh can be a stunning city, and on a warm, sunny day, the views didn’t disappoint.

Then, it was time for the game. The bus took them across the bridge toward the stadium — a stadium known for its magnificent views and architecture. It’s been said that there’s not a bad seat in the house, and our kids would agree. The 1st inning showed neither team on the board, but by the end of the 2nd, the Rockies were up by two. Pittsburgh caught a few hits in the 3rd, but it wasn’t until the 6th were it started to feel like a game with the Pirates scoring three more times. Unfortunately, because of the time, the kids needed to board the bus to return home at the end of the 6th. Had they been able to stick around for the 7th inning, they would have seen the Pirates add four more to their total and by the end, our Black and Gold won 10 to 5.

Though it would have been great to see this win, the day was a success! Thanks to Mr. Orelli and the SWPBS team! Thank you to the administration who supported this incentive. And a BIG thank you goes to the 47 students who decided that it was important to be referral-free and in compliance with our attendance policy during this final 4th grading period.
