FFA is Heading to Happy Valley!

Gabrielle Treece, Vet Assistant and member of FFA, Class of 2024

FFA is a national youth leadership organization.  Its mission is to positively affect young adults by developing their leadership skills and by giving them opportunities for personal growth and career success. FFA has two types of events, Career Development Events (CDE) and Leadership Development Events (LDE). Here at LCCTC, we are excited to join in on the fun as we participate in the Extemporaneous Speech and Jr. Prepared Speech categories, as well as with our Veterinary Science Team.

The Veterinary Science Team, a CDE, gives students a chance to showcase their skills in the identification of parasites, medical equipment, and materials, small and large animals, companion animals, small mammals, and reptiles; hands-on skills, written tests, and critical thinking. CDEs help students achieve the ability to communicate clearly and perform efficiently in a competitive job market.

Leadership Development Events like Extemporaneous Speech and Jr. Prepared Speech create situations for students to demonstrate their abilities in public speaking, decision making, communication, and their knowledge of agriculture and the FFA organization.

The competitions are an amazing opportunity to meet new people and spend time getting to build relationships with our team and network with other students who have similar interests. Through competition, teams build character and can produce a better spirit. It teaches us to do our best while also showing us how to win well and how to push through disappointment when we don’t see that medal.
