LCCTC to Host a SkillsUSA Signing Day Event

On Wednesday, May 4th, 2022, the Lawrence County CTC is participating in the second-annual SkillsUSA National Signing Day.

This is a time when our graduating seniors will be recognized and celebrated for their commitment to a solid plan for their future.

Much like a traditional signing day ceremony hosted for student-athletes who commit to a college, this event is part of a nationwide celebration showcasing the impact that SkillsUSA, career and technical education programs, and partnerships have to help close the skills gap. These partnerships include local businesses and industry, post-secondary training ( trade unions, technical schools, colleges, universities), and the armed forces.

During our signing event, we will highlight the value of career paths and long-term growth opportunities for 38 total students from Lawrence County CTC who have committed to skilled trades careers and/or advanced training.

Parents and partners of our 38 students will gather at LCCTC on May 4th at 12:30 PM for a meet and greet which includes hors d'oeuvres. The live-streamed program will begin at 1:40 and will be featured on social media platforms which include LinkedIn and Facebook; during this time, the graduating student will join our administration and SkillsUSA advisors on the stage to sign a certificate of commitment and to receive a medal to be worn at graduation signifying their commitment.  Representatives from industry and post-secondary institutions have been invited to join us on the stage for a photo opportunity that will highlight their company logo in support of our partnership as we celebrate our students' commitment to their future plans after graduation.

During a live stream event – which will be shared with the community through our network of emails and various social media platforms which include LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, we plan to feature your organization’s logo as our   The event will be uploaded to our school’s YouTube Channel and our student blog, The LCCTC Eagle, which will connect to a national forum through SkillsUSA.  Additionally, the link will be shared so that our partners might include it on their network of contacts, reaching out to our community and beyond.

Afterward, our guests will be treated to a tour of the facility.

We are excited about this first-ever event and to see our students who are working to close the skills gap by making a commitment to their futures! After all — it’s what career and technical education is all about!
