Twentier Lights Up the Baking World!

“Look, look, look…” exclaimed bright-eyed senior Restaurant Trades student, Cassidy Twentier, from Ellwood City. “Look at what we’re going to make!” as she thrust an image into view to show a deliciously-realistic cake that looked like a candle. She could barely contain her excitement over the thought of being able to attack a project like this.

Grabbing the arm of the junior beside her, Cassidy stated, “And I’m going to train Daniella to do this with me!”

One of the MANY outstanding qualities of the Restaurant Trades program is that instructor and former LCCTC RT student herself, Ms. Jen Price, encourages students to take on leadership roles within the shop. Under Ms. Price’s capable eye, these employable qualities encourage both inquiry and mastery of the craft.

Selected to compete as the Restaurant Trades representative in Commercial Baking for the Lawrence County CTC Chapter of SkillsUSA, Twentier is spending the next few months practicing her craft as she goes up against the best of the best in the region, and hopefully, the state!

This year marks Daniella Wetzel’s second year in Restaurant Trades, and under the tutelage of Twentier, Wetzel is sure to make her mark. “I want to make sure there’s someone who can keep these sweet treats going after I graduate,” states Twentier, “ and Daniella has a great eye for detail.”

With a sense of confidence, Twentier gushes, “Next, we’d like to do a Harry Potter-themed cake!” …and what a magical cake that will be!
