Recognizing Senior SkillsUSA Members

Formerly named VICA, SkillsUSA is a national student organization for students enrolled in career and technical education programs on the secondary and post secondary level. 

It enriches CTE students' career education with Workplace Skills, Personal Skills, and Technical Skills Grounded in Academics.  Additionally, SkillsUSA gives students an opportunity to win scholarships, recognition and advance their careers.

In SkillsUSA, students are given the opportunity to compete against other students enrolled in career and technical programs in both their trade areas and in professional skills like job interviews and public speaking.  First, students compete within their own school and then move on to district competition. District gold medalists go on to state competition in Hershey, PA.  Gold medalists at the state level winners go on to compete with the best-of-the-best at the national level.

Unfortunately, this year, the state and national directors for SkillsUSA made the difficult decision to cancel both the state and national championships, due to the pandemic; however, in keeping with the theme, there is no doubt that these students are career-ready. The lessons they learned through SkillsUSA will become an invaluable resource, and the LCCTC Chapter of SkillsUSA wishes them well in their future!
