The Eagle's Nest Boutique is Open for Business

by Desiree D’Ambrosi ~ Class of 2026 Commercial Art

“No matter who you are, no matter how rich or poor you are, no matter how you look, everyone deserves to be valued and appreciated and to have access to nice things. That is what I am trying to accomplish with the Eagle’s Nest Boutique.”- Mrs. Young (Main Contributor of Boutique)

Here at LCCTC, the most important thing that the school cares about is its students, and while every school makes that promise, LCCTC makes sure that it rings true through the school giving away food to kids who need it, planning several entertaining events for students, and always helping them in their academic and shop weeks.

The newest way that LCCTC is showing how it is putting its students first is the Eagle’s Nest Boutique. This passion project has been put together these past few months by the wonderful educator, Mrs. Young, and several others.

The Eagle’s Nest Boutique is nestled behind the Cyber Room, in the A-Wing. The procedure to visit this free-for-every-student “store” is this:  First, contact Mrs. Haynes via email to request an appointment.  Mrs. Haynes will reply with a good time to visit.  Once you have your appointment, ask your current teacher for permission to visit the boutique.  Mrs. Haynes will grant you access to the boutique which provides any clothing that your heart desires. There are clothing options for every gender and body type.  Also provided are hygiene and menstrual products.

The items that you pick out in the boutique will be yours to keep, and it is free to obtain these items.  Many students already have gotten amazing items from the boutique whether it be a new pair of jeans because they got a spill on theirs, suits for senior exit interviews, or prom dresses.

If you ever feel the need to donate school-appropriate, well-maintained clothes, please bring them into the front office and Mrs. Lyons and the senior Service Occupations students will make sure that they are washed and organized correctly!

The Eagle’s Nest Boutique is always in need of more clothes, especially men’s belts, shoes, and plus-sizes for girls.  Even if your gifts don’t fit this description, all donations are welcome!

Mrs. Young wanted to make the Eagle’s Nest Boutique a reality because she is a firm believer in the fact that no matter who you are, or where you come from you, all students deserve to have access to nice things, and clothes are one of the most important things that we need as they provide us with warmth and can make us feel more confident in our skin. Mrs. Young wanted to make sure that students would feel valued and appreciated by this boutique, and wants them to know that LCCTC cares.

The boutique will be worked on more and more as time goes on, and will hopefully in the future have an official logo designed by Commercial Arts Students such students could also design a mural outside the boutique to make it seem like you are walking down a street about to enter a boutique.

Mrs. Young is overjoyed with this news that students are making good use of this resource and is pleased with the fact that her goal of helping students is coming true.  Mrs. Young hopes that in the future the Eagle’s Nest will continue to bring happiness to students of LCCTC.

Mrs. Jones shared this, “It’s so rewarding to see the joy and excitement that the Eagle’s Nest has created for our students!”

All clothing items were donated either by staff, students, community members, or the members of the Victory Church.  We would like to thank all who donated.

She wanted to give the biggest thanks to Mrs. Caizza who supported her throughout this process, who gave her permission to start the Eagle’s Nest Boutique, and who let Mrs. Young add her own flair to the project.

She also wanted to thank Mrs. Hanes for supervising the students in the boutique, Ken Keene from Shenango High School for helping find shelving and donating clothes he would find at thrift stores, Mrs. DeSimone who helped transfer everything from the small clothes closet to the Eagle’s Nest Boutique, which is a much bigger room, Mr. Ovial who is in charge of receiving the clothes from the Victory Church, and finally Scott Powner who helped buy necessary shelving and cubbies for items. Thank you so much to all who helped bring this idea to life.

The Eagle’s Nest Boutique will continue to grow as time goes on, and we are very happy to see this extremely generous and brilliant project continue to flourish.

If there is one thing that I truly believe in, it is that students should be able to have access to clothes and items that they require. I hope that more students will donate to this wonderful cause and, if they are ever in need of clothing items, will go down to the Eagle’s Nest Boutique and be able to find what they need.  My hope is that they leave happy and feel that someone cares.
